Spring/Summer 2010 Trends: To Dye For
Posted: 4/20/2010

It was that day as a child that you were most likely introduced to the concept of tie-dyed. The sun was shining and you held a bright white t-shirt in your hand. It was instructed that you tie rubber bands around the shirt. Buckets with dark shades of colors sat in front of you. “Dip! In any color you like!” Therefore, you dipped in your favorite colors. It was nearing the end of the project and you anxiously wait for the color drenched garment to dry. What will it look like?  It is finally dry, the rubber bands have been removed, the shirt was wrinkled, but a masterpiece has been created. This style is not just for the kids, it is a rock star look that has made a comeback.

Proenza Schouler and Blumarine featured tie-dyed dresses in their runway shows. It was not a look that screamed homemade; it was instead, a look that screamed glamour! Yes, a dress with the tie-dye look was glamorous on the models as they sashayed down the runway. A style that is flowing with fun and fashion. It is more than a comeback it is a historic look. These two designers, Schouler and Bluamrine, each displayed the power of dye. They individually turned a classic into a must-have for the summer.
