This show highlights the ’08 Line of Maisha Davis, who spent several years in Atlanta, where she styled OutKast, one of the most successful hip-hop groups of all time, and later did costume design for award-winning movie, “Remember the Titans”. After moving to LA to further develop her skill and through her tutelage under LA designer, Eduardo Lucero, who designs for several ‘A’ list celebrities including, Janet Jackson, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz, she mastered the art of draping and making garments ‘woman-friendly’.
Showcasing her collection in the atrium of the internationally recognized Penobscot Building, located at 645 Griswold makes perfect sense to Maisha. “What location is more edgy and chic than Detroit?” begs Maisha. “It is the ideal place to launch my new line. Detroit is the perfect backdrop for my collection.”
This highly anticipated event is sponsored by Detroit Fashion Pages, The Downtown Collection and Jaguar Vodka and kicks off the Designer Showcase Series. It will be hosted in the Grand Atrium of the Internationally Recognized Penobscot Building in Detroit, featuring a guest reception at 8:00pm and a runway show at 9:00pm. “Designer Showcase Series” is Detroit Fashion Pages’ anchor fashion event committed to the growth of independent and spirited fashion talent. Musical selections for the pre and post runway show receptions will be provided by acclaimed DJ, Adam Hofmann and the runway mix will be prepared by Aqua Regia of Division X Records.
"We are thrilled to continue to provide Detroit’s industry leaders and tastemakers with a first glimpse of these talented new fashion designers in a fresh and singular format,” says Niki Johnson, publisher of Detroit Fashion Pages. “Through each designer’s unique perspective, Detroit becomes more established and more widely recognized as a fashionable force to be reckoned with.”
The ‘Designer Showcase Series’ has become the showcase for promising local designers, and, arguably, fashion’s hottest ticket.”
